BIOGRAPHY

Joy Mumford’s youthful and melodic musical style is a combination of her favourite musical influences; pop, indie and hints of 90’s RnB. Take a dash of the tight knit soulful harmonies, a playful lyrical style, and a feel-good groove - and there you’ll find the self-taught British singer, songwriter and producer.

Joy’s curiosity to experiment with storytelling through music led her to teach herself guitar one summer in school. The new found freedom of pairing her thoughts with music saw her transition from playing open mics on her own, to gigging established venues with a band across her hometown of Nottingham. Joy then went on to open and play at festivals such as Splendour, Dot To Dot and Barn on The Farm.

In between live performances, Joy began uploading original songs she had written and unique covers to YouTube. Her unique soul-folk vocal style and relatable lifestyle videos racked up an avid online following and an impressive number of YouTube video views – over 1,300,000 since creating her channel in 2010.

Joy has supported a range of artists; such as Andreya Triana and Ayanna Witter-Johnson, and has written with the likes of Robert Milton (Holy Humberston and Easy Life) and Christian Crada; who’s written and produced for Tinie Tempah, Rita Ora, Salaam Remi, Jordan Sparks & Drake. Her vocals are also featured on BBC Sound of 2020 nominee Easy Life’s 2019 single, Temporary Love Pt 1.

2023 will see the release of more music from Joy, alongside other exciting projects!
